Selloane Moeti was born in KwaZulu–Natal in 1983 and graduated in Fine Art from the Durban University of Technology in 2009, majoring in painting and sculpture.
She was a finalist in the Nivea Art Award, (2007), the winner of the KZN Young Achiever Award in Visual Arts presented by eThekwini Mayor (2018), won first prize at the KwaZulu Natal Society of Arts Members’ Exhibition (2019) and was awarded the Feature Artist prize(2019) at UNDERLINE Projects, an exhibition platform for independent curators.
She is a co-founder of Sketchin’, a figure-drawing project aimed at empowering young artists in Durban and rural KwaZulu-Natal (2016-2020).
As an independent artist, Moeti has collaborated with reputable independent curators from South Africa, Switzerland and France.
Moeti was selected as one of twelve women artists for the RMB mentorship program in 2021 and exhibited the residency work at the Everard Read Art Gallery later that year. Moeti’s works have been featured in various publications and were included in a Strauss &Co auction in 2021.
Moeti has been part of numerous group shows and shown in esteemed galleries, museums and fairs including the 2022 Prizm Art Fair in Miami in 2022 and the RMB Latitudes Art Fair in 2023 – both with KZNSA Gallery. In 2023 Moeti was part of a group show WHAT WE KNOW curated by INCCA art at KEYES Art Mile and in 2025 Moeti mounted her first solo exhibition at the KZNSA titled, Sizobika, Sicele Indawo.
Over the years, her work has been acquired by corporate, museum and private collections.
